Abstract submission: CLOSED
Advisory Board in action to select abstracts
1 July has passed… and thus the deadline for abstract submission for the CEM meeting, to be held on 23-24 October in Ljubljana (SI) has expired.
We were happy to receive 154 high-quality abstracts, a great contribution from dedicated researchers from all over the region. There were many contributions from countries such as Austria, the Czech Republic and Romania. But an abstract was also sent in from Ukraine and even from the United Kingdom! The CEM meeting attracts a very international audience.
The Advisory Board will face the difficult task of selecting abstracts based on their scientific merits. The selection criteria are Relevance of the subject/originality; Relevance/value of the results; Appropriateness of interpretation; Study design/Scientific value; Quality of presentation. All abstracts will be scored and the scores range from poor to excellent.
The Advisory Board consists of:
P-A. Abrahamsson, Malmö (SE)
A.P. Borkowski, Warsaw (PL)
A. Borówka, Warsaw (PL)
J. Breza, Bratislava (SK)
Z.F. Dobrowolski, Cracow (PL)
J. Dvorácek, Prague (CZ)
P.A. Geavlete, Bucharest (RO)
T. Hánuš, Prague (CZ)
G. Janetschek, Linz (AT)
J. Kliment, Martin (SK)
O. Kraus, Zagreb (HR)
I. Romics, Budapest (HU)
I.C. Sinescu, Bucharest (RO)
M. Sosnowski, Lodz (PL)
The abstracts are also being reviewed by Professors C. Oblak (Ljubljana, SI) and M. Marberger (Vienna, AT).
The accepted abstracts of the EAU Regional Meetings will be published by Elsevier in an official supplement of European Urology. This means that the abstracts are documented in an international journal and can be cited, providing proof of the academic productivity of the regions. The award-winning posters will be displayed at the Annual EAU Congress for the duration of the congress.
Shortly we will be able to announce which abstracts were selected.
Recently the decision was made to organise a meeting of the European Society for Residents in Urology (ESRU) simultaneously. The ESRU is an independent organisation representing European residents, which organises training for these residents. The ESRU organises the annual ESRU day, a session for residents, at the annual EAU meeting. The ESRU day is quite successful and a second educational course designed for residents is desirable. Apart from the obvious educational benefit for residents, the meeting may help improve communication between European residents as well as between the ESRU board and residents. All residents are invited to be present on Saturday 24 October from 13:00-18:00 hrs.
